3 What is included in God’s name? Genesis 17:1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty; walk before me and be blameless. God’s Titles God Almighty

4 What is included in God’s name? Matthew 1:23 “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”— which means, “God with us.” Immanuel God’s Titles God Almighty

5 What is included in God’s name? Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. 9 Why does God want us to know his name? Romans 10:13 Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. to save us

13 What are two of the most common ways that we misuse God’s name? Hebrews 6:16 Men swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument. swearing …using God’s name to assure someone that we’re telling the truth sinful

On his birthday Herod gave a banquet for his high officials and military commanders and the leading men of Galilee. When the daughter of Herodias came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his dinner guests. The king said to the girl, “Ask me for anything you want, and I’ll give it to you.” And he promised her with an oath, “Whatever you ask I will give you, up to half my kingdom.” She went out and said to her mother, “What shall I ask for?” “The head of John the Baptist,” she answered. At once the girl hurried in to the king with the request: “I want you to give me right now the head of John the Baptist on a platter.” The king was greatly distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he did not want to refuse her. So he immediately sent an executioner with orders to bring John’s head. The man went, beheaded John in the prison, and brought back his head on a platter. He presented it to the girl, and she gave it to her mother. I swear I’ll do whatever you want. c. unsure promising things unknown
