1 A PRELIMINARY LOOK AT ANALYZING FILM ANATOMY OF A SCENE

2 PURPOSE Objectives: To begin analyzing how scenes are put together and dissect the many elements that go into a shot. To understand the similarity between the director or a film and an author or literature Method: View a few clips from films- without and with commentary.

3 TAKE 1 View this scene from 127 Hours -background: Aron is trapped by a rock and cannot get out Consider how the following impact viewer’s perception: -Film shots and angles – Where are these in relation to the characters? 4 TAKE 2 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows (Part 1) Observe: -Setting – Consider how this environment feels. -Camera angle / movement during the scene -Where does it begin?
