3. Briefly describe the work of Hippocrates. [5] You need to make 5 points or explain 2 or 3. Hippocrates was a Greek doctor that developed the theory of the four humours. [1]. He believed in observing penitents to find out the cause of the illness. [1] Hippocrates looked for a natural cause for illness. [1] He believed in rebalancing the four humours by purging [1]. He also said that doctors should be professional [1]. He said that leading a healthy lifestyle was important to keep the humours balanced. [1]

4. Explain why the work of Galen is important in the history of medicine [7] You need to explain 2 points in detail. Give REASONS! Galen was a Greek doctor who worked in Rome. He made very important discoveries about human anatomy. He was wrong about some of these discoveries as he could not dissect humans, only animals. He proved important things about anatomy by performing experiments on animals in front of doctors. [5]. He developed the theory of the four humours by saying they should be treated by using opposites. This was very important as it was what all medicine was based on for the next 15000 years.[7]
