Genomic Medicine Programme is still being finalised with WT Plan to start this academic year but application deadlines will be later than the other WT programmes. Will be based at Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics (Old Rd Campus), with Department of Statistics.
Aims Experimental –Use genetics and genomics approaches to dissect complex disease in humans and in animal models Theoretical –Develop and apply Statistical Genetics Methods
Training Programme Introductory course (Term 1) –Molecular Genetics –Systems analysis and complex disease –Bioinformatics and computing Advanced modules (Terms 2,3) –cancer, cardiovascular medicine, global health, infection/immunity, mental health, epidemiology, statistical genetics, neuroscience
DPhil 23 potential supervisors Examples of projects: –Congenital heart disease –Language disorders –Anxiety and depression –Statistical genetics –Structural biology –Bioinformatics, gene function –Diabetes –Malaria genetics –Public health, HIV –Gene expression
