Designing a Car Modelling – Using Plasticine

Designing a Car To help you we have designed a Jig…. Cartridge Location Rear Axle Location Front Axle Locations

Designing a Car To help you we have designed a Jig….

Designing a Car Cover Profile with Plasticine…

Designing a Car Decide on the profile of your car… Profile sketched on or on card Ensure Cartridge is covered by 3mm all around 3mm

Designing a Car As you cover the Profile with Plasticine… ensure that the height the of plasticine applied to the Jig is half the Width of the finished car, i.e between 45 and 60mm Plasticine level to be no more then 30mm Plasticine & Wheels to be between 22.5 and 30mm Plasticine at centre of car must be at least 22.5mm but no more than 30mm

Designing a Car Ensure Plasticine is smooth with no under cuts… Undercut Jig

Designing a Car Simplistic 2D sketches including notes Approximately 4-5 A4 sheets or equivalent

Try and add notes to explain your sketches.

Manufacturing the Car Send Car to Manufacturing Centre (TEC Omagh) to be Scanned and Machined ½ car being Scanned with Laser Scanner Digital Image of Car

Manufacturing the Car Send Car to Manufacturing Centre (TEC) to be Scanned and Machined Digital Information can be used to manufacture car on Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) Machine CNC Micro Router

Balsa blank returned with axle holes drilled, ready for sanding and painting.

Manufacturing the Car Fit Axles sleeve/bearings, cut axles to length and fit wheels.
