2 In the beginning…. Second Step Curriculum Only ( No Accountability) Then and Now… A grant to update curriculum Pacing guide to align with student needs according to data Discussions and other resources shared with teachers Documentation Piece

3 Second Step: Skills for Social and Academic Success Goals for Completion (Pre-K: Early Learning) Unit 1: Skills for Learning (September & October) Unit 2: Empathy (November & December) Unit 3: Emotion Management (January & February) Unit 4: Friendship Skills & Problem Solving (March & April) Unit 5: Transitioning to Kindergarten (May) * Goal is to teach and document at least 4 lessons per unit. (Two lessons for unit 5) Other resources may be used to teach these skills as well and may be added to your documentation sheet. Here is the link to a grade level appropriate book list: Documentation is due at the end of the month according to this chart. ( K, 1st, 2nd & 3rd) Unit 1: Skills for Learning (September & October) Unit 2: Empathy (November & December) Unit 3: Emotion Management (January & February) Unit 4: Problem Solving (March, April & May) * Goal is to teach and document at least 4 lessons per unit. Other resources may be used to teach these skills as well andmay be added to your documentation sheet. (4th & 5th) Unit 1: Empathy and Skills for Learning (Sept., Oct. & Nov.) Unit 2: Emotion Management (December, January & February) Unit 3: Problem Solving (March, April & May) * Goal is to teach and document at least five lessons per unit. The 4th and 5th grade units have more lessons, but less units overall. Only three documentation forms will be needed due to this fact. Other resources may be used to teach these skills as well and may be added to your documentation sheet.
