Hiro Yamamoto at LCGT f2f ICRR on September 28 th, 2010 LIGO-G v1 LCGT-G v1 LIGO and LCGT collaboration Hiro Yamamoto / LIGO Lab Based on the meeting at Caltech on Sep. 8 th to discuss about the productive collaboration for LIGO and LCGT  Kuroda, Nakatani, Jay, Albert, Stan, Dave Reitze (LSC), David Shoemaker (aLIGO), Hiro Under negotiation for the final agreement Specifics of the collaboration are not included in the MOU/attachment ⇦ my talk is about the guideline of this issue  Each activity/visit/instance will be accompanied by a requesting letter and an accepting letter from the respective directors. MOU is symmetric between two parties  All my slides should be duplicated by exchanging LIGO and LCGT 1

Hiro Yamamoto at LCGT f2f ICRR on September 28 th, 2010 LIGO-G v1 LCGT-G v1 Procedure to arrange specific resource exchange When LCGT invites people from LIGO, sends people to LIGO, and acquires knowledge from LIGO (MOU/attachment item 4, 5 and 6) 1. Every three months, LCGT sends an official request to LIGO with a list of prioritized items  This is to avoid cases that low priority requests submitted earlier would not compromise higher priority requests which come out later.  Emergency requests will be sent as needed. 2. LIGO will review the request and will issue a formal answer to LCGT. 3. Items agreed between LIGO and LCGT will be documented in a web page with proper documents referenced. 2

Hiro Yamamoto at LCGT f2f ICRR on September 28 th, 2010 LIGO-G v1 LCGT-G v1 Procedures of LCGT visitors to Adv LIGO Contact with David Shoemaker to identify good Advanced LIGO partners and to check on timing Schedule of the trip should be agreed upon before the visit. Minimize the time and maximize the efficiency of the interaction with aLIGO people by properly preparing before and during the visit. If LCGT visitors can help accomplish Advanced LIGO scope while visiting, it is of course very welcome; all these activities must be coordinated in advance with the Advanced LIGO staff, though. 5

Hiro Yamamoto at LCGT f2f ICRR on September 28 th, 2010 LIGO-G v1 LCGT-G v1 Human resources from LIGO lab Riccardo  Detail scheduling of visiting Japan under way Hiro  Same levels of commitments as until now  on demand support in modeling and optics, exchanging information between LIGO and LCGT, and attending LCGT meetings It is very difficult to expect any other commitments of LIGO Lab personnel  aLIGO has barely enough people to build aLIGO on schedule  Support may be needed for LIGO-Australia 6

Hiro Yamamoto at LCGT f2f ICRR on September 28 th, 2010 LIGO-G v1 LCGT-G v1 LIGO DCC DCC access privilege is currently tied to access privileges to web sites containing data, so there is no simple way to provide a special LCGT privilege setup to access only LIGO DCC for now. All DCC documents appropriate for access by LCGT will be assigned public access privilege. Non-public ones either contain LIGO-private information or are not useful outside the Laboratory. There is an internal review process to make a document pubic (e.g., check to see that there are no copyrighted issues, etc), so there may be some (usually short) time lag to become public. When some documents are needed that are not yet public, make a direct request to David Shoemaker, Hiro or the authors of the document. 7
