The Streetcar Named Desirefloat 14The Streetcar Named Desirefloat 14 This permanent float honors the most famous of all New Orleans’ streetcar lines. The Streetcar named Desire was established in 1920. Desire was discontinued in 1948, replaced by a bus Named Desire. The streetcar became famous after Tennessee Williams’ play, A Streetcar Named Desired, was first performed in 1947. Blanche Dubois says, “they told me to take a Streetcar Named Desire…….”
