8 Definition: LCL LCL is: –The planning, development, implementation, & management of a comprehensive, affordable, and effective system support strategy –Replaced “Acquisition Logistics” in DAWIA vernacular in 2003 Life Cycle Product Support includes both: –Acquisition: design, develop, test, produce and deploy –Sustainment: operations, support, and disposal 8

9 ILCM The seamless governance, transparency, and integration of all aspects of infrastructure, resource management, and business systems necessary for successful development, acquisition, fielding, and sustainment of systems, subsystems, end items, and services to satisfy validated warfighter capability needs (AFPD 63-1, 20-1) Life Cycle Logistics (Acquisition Logistics) Logistics Design Influence Integrated Logistics Support Planning Product Support & Sustainment Configuration Management Reliability & Maintainability Analysis Technical/Product Data Management Supportability Analysis Supply Management Forecasting & Demand Planning Supply Planning Sourcing Inventory Management Deployment / Distribution / Transportation Deployment Planning Physical Distribution/ Transportation Operations Maintenance Support Maintenance Operations (includes depot maintenance) Production & Support Logistics Categories / Core Competencies WORKFORCE LOGISTICS MANAMGEMENT ACTIVTIES INTEGRATED LIFE CYCLE SYSTEM DoD Logistics Human Capital Strategy (HSC), 12 May 2008 & DoD Core Logistics Competencies and Proficiencies Booklet, June 1, 2008, Vers 1.1 DoDD , DoDI Product Support Processes Contained in AFI , para 3.88 Design for Support (Acquisition Logistics) Support the Design (Sustainment) Plan for Support (Acquisition Logistics) Defense Acquisition Guide, Chap 5,, 24 Oct
