Revision and Terminal Assessments: Science Communication with home Revision tips and strategies Reflection and responsibility
Homelearning and Communication with Home To share your plans with parents and keep everyone in the picture really helps.
Brookfield P2.2 Home learning – 11T5 Homelearning Week beginning Studying at home from specification CGP activity (notes, mind map…) Bitesize activity (AQA Additional)Start in Class – for your reference 9 th Sept th Sept 2013 start two weeks P2.3 Currents in electrical circuits Electricity 3 Tests Online resource – youtube channel Netherscience - Static electricity, Current and voltage in electrical circuits, Resistance, P2.3 review Currents in electrical circuits Resistance of components within circuits 23 rd Sept 2013 P2.4 Using mains electricity safely and the power of electrical appliances ‘Electricity’ 3 Tests (+2 H) Household electricity, Charge, current and power Online resource – youtube channel Netherscience - Plugs and Cables, Safety fuses and RCCBs, Current and Heat, Calculating Electrical Power, Calculating Fuse Ratings E=VxQ, 30 th Sept 2013 P2.4 Using mains electricity safely and the power of electrical appliances FLIP Learning The idea is that students come to the lesson prepared, with an existing idea of what the lesson is going to be about. The lesson is an opportunity to embed the learning through application. Produce a timetable of HL for your topic, publish this to show when HL needs to be covered and when the work will be covered in class.

The learning route for each class was sent to parents with what is in the unit, when to expect the assessment, feedback and reteach.

Revision Goal Energy management Organisation Be creative Link new ideas to old Practise Little pep talk before starting the revision process. The clip shows a really good example of creativity and memory.
Alpha Beta Gamma properties Half life Fission- energy Fusion – stars Nucleus Isotopes Helicopter Phone Cold Sugar Yellow Blue Fish Engine Purple Sugar Lettuce Green Pen Daughter Bottle Paper Mobile Music Pink Lemonade Try it in lessons with random words and then work them into your subject topics.
Mnemonic Chunking Graphic organisers Acronyms Silly sentences Association/storytelling/rhyming/playing games Repetition – flash cards/notes/revision guides Auditory – read out loud/listen/talk/questions Other ideas. Some other ideas.
Reflection and Responsibility It is important that students reflect on their own progress and the impact of their efforts. Use of QLA and reflection sheets to identify areas of reteach and get pupils to noted for themselves what their weaknesses are and the actions they need to take, with a deadline.
