Background Lots of people speak English in big cities in Indonesia: e.g. Surabaya or Jakarta, but not all Indonesians do. Problems come in a national conference with an English speaker: If interpreting is employed, many people consider it a waste of time. If interpreting is not employed, the audience who does not understand English is neglected.. Thus, an interpreter is still needed HOW to cater everyone’s desire?
