The purpose of this PowerPoint presentation, is to help the user make the connection between a smart device (iPhone or Droid) and software games written by DEC Software.
Each program requires players (or teams) to “buzz-in”. Now we have developed software to enable your smart device to do this.
1. A computer running Windows XP or newer. You’ll need the following in order to connect your smart device to our software: 2. An iOS or Android device. 3. All devices connected to the same network. 4. Network that allows peer-to-peer communication (more info here)(more info here) 5. We’ll wait right here, till you run out and get everything that you need.
If you don’t own any DEC Software program, free demonstration programs can be downloaded from: OK, now get the program running on your computer. http://decsoftware.com/downloads.htm Install your program of choice and then run it. Sometimes a computer will have a firewall protecting it from the unauthorized access to the computer. A message like the one at the right will appear when you attempt to start one of our games. Peer-to-peer communication Sometimes a network will be setup in order to block peer to peer communication. This is exactly the basis of the smart devide - desktop connection. You may have to ask your network administrators to unblock this in order for your smart device to communicate with the desktop computer, specifically the program. In this event, please click the button, in order for the game to communicate with the android device.
So follow these steps to get smart devices connected to the program on your computer. Peer-to-peer communication As an example, ZoneAlarm is a free firewall blocking program. We use it on 2 of the machines in our offices. Despite our best efforts, we always have problems on the machine protected by ZoneAlarm. *Your screen will probably look different than this. 1. Right-click on the ZoneAlarm icon in the tray: * 2. Right-click on the "Snooze Firewall for 5 minutes..." *
