ENPI MODULE 1 Introduction to Entrepreneurship and ENPI
HOW DO YOU DEFINE ENTREPRENEURSHIP? Become a thesaurus—what words would you use to define this term?
WHAT IS ENTREPRENEURSHIP? The process of recognizing an opportunity in the market. –Consider an industry –Consider your community –Consider what you know well –Consider where you see a gap that should be filled
WHY BE AN ENTREPRENEUR? Be your own boss! Do something you love! Be creative Set your own schedule Ability to make more money Recognition in your community
WHY NOT BE AN ENTREPRENEUR? Requires long work hours at the sacrifice of your personal time Uncertain income Taking the risk of being completely responsible Taking the financial risk
I HAVE A GREAT IDEA! Put your ideas to work with the Entrepreneurship Participating-Independent (ENPI) Category in DECA Competition! Prove to a judge that YOUR idea is the best investment!
ADVICE FOR STARTING AN ENPI Be as realistic as you possibly can—if your family reads your plan and they wouldn’t invest, why would a judge? Details are important! Your facts support your claim that this is THE BEST idea. Use resources in your community to be realistic. Believe in yourself and your idea; any investor will respond to that confidence.
