10 Plan of border cooperation in Russian Federation is confirmed Preparation and signature of intergovernmental agreement with Finland about trans-bordering reserves included to “Ingermanlandskiy” project- reserve. Designed reserve can act like a project of PAs development according to international standards.

11 Reserve establishment will help to solve following problems: 1. Conservation of standards of Eastern Baltic natural complexes in conditions of intense economic development of the region; 1. 12 The Baltic Forests – a Resource for Economic Development with Environmental Quality Background The County of Västernorrland has established regional co-operation with the regions of Wielkopolska in Poland and St. Petersburg/Leningrad Oblast in NW Russia. Sustainable forestry has been identified as one vital process to promote, in terms of regional sustainability, business development, environmental care in the Baltic area, with special focus on the greenhouse effect (reduction of CO2-levels). Aim of the project To create a long term co-operation process with important partners around the Baltic Sea in the field of sustainable forestry promoting network and cluster building for business growth and development of technology with environmental profile. Regional “godfathers” with special knowledge will involve small and medium sized enterprises (SME) in the project.
