3 POINT OF VIEW – DEFINITION POINT OF VIEW – THE PERSPECTIVE FROM WHICH A STORY IS TOLD. FIRST-PERSON NARRATOR – WHEN THE STORY IS TOLD THROUGH THE EYES OF A CHARACTER, USING “I”.

4 TURN AND TALK AT THE END OF CHAPTER ONE, THE NARRATOR THINKS TO HIMSELF: “I DON’T CARE ABOUT DARRY. BUT I WAS STILL LYING AND I KNEW IT. I LIE TO MYSELF ALL THE TIME. BUT I NEVER BELIEVE ME. WHY WOULD THE NARRATOR SAY THIS? WHAT DOES IT TELL US ABOUT THE STORY?

5 UNRELIABLE NARRATOR WHEN THE FIRST-PERSON NARRATOR IS NAÏVE OR MISTAKEN, OR MISUNDERSTANDS WHAT IS HAPPENING (AND THE READER REALIZES IT)

6 POINT OF VIEW LETTER FROM LORD FARQUAAD TO THE PEOPLE OF DULOC: AS SOME OF YOU KNOW, TODAY AN OGRE ATTACKED MY CASTLE. THIS GREEN MONSTROSITY COWARDLY TOOK US UNAWARE, AS WE WERE CELEBRATING. THROUGH HIS DECEITFUL ATTACK HE WAS ABLE TO BEST SOME OF OUR FINEST KNIGHTS, BUT OUR VALIANT MEN EVENTUALLY OVERCAME HIM. AFTER TEACHING HIM A LESSON AT THE EDGE OF THEIR SWORDS, THE OGRE SAW REASON, AND AGREED TO HELP THE KINGDOM IN A DANGEROUS QUEST. REST ASSURED IN THE SAFETY AND POWER OF YOUR KNIGHTS, AND YOUR HUMBLE LORD!
