NOTE TO TEACHER Ask students what they think the Qur’an is – if u are taking this class after “Introduction to the Qur’an” classes, the discussion will be very interesting. take plenty of time to discuss their perception of the Qur’an as well as their relationship with it.
لَقَدْ أَنزَلْنَا إِلَيْكُمْ كِتَابًا فِيهِ ذِكْرُكُمْ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ Indeed We have sent down for you ( O mankind) a book (The Qur’an) in which there is your reminder. Will you not then understand? (Surah Al Anbiyah 21: Verse 10)
What is it in the Qur’an that is “relevant” and “urgent” for ME? Every statement Every piece of knowledge Every dialogue Every story Every character Every promise Every warning Every commandment Every prohibition
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ And indeed We have made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember; then is there any one that will remember? [Surah Al Qamar 54: Verse 17]
The Prophet (PBUH) said: “One who is skilled in reading the Qur’an is with the noble, virtuous angels who bring down the revelation; one who falters while reading it and finds it hard to read correctly, will have a double reward.” [Bukhari & Muslim]

Your position in Paradise is determined by the amount of Qur’an you memorize in this life! ‘Abdullaah ibn ‘Amr ibn Al-’Aas (ra) heard the Prophet (pbuh) saying: “It will be said to the companion of the Qur’an: Read and elevate (through the levels of the Paradise) and beautify your voice as you used to do when you were in the duniya! For verily, your position in the Paradise will be at the last verse you recite!” [Abu Dawood and At-Tirmidhi] Memorize the Qur’an as much as possible

O Allah, I am Your slave and the son of Your male slave and the son of your female slave. My forehead is in Your Hand (i.e. you have control over me). Your Judgment upon me is assured and Your Decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every Name that You have named Yourself with, revealed in Your Book, taught any one of Your creation or kept unto Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen that is with You, to make the Qur'an the spring of my heart, and the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness and the reliever of my distress. [Ahmad]
