PALM OIL YOU CANNOT SEE THIS YOU CANNOT SEE THIS TOO THIS IS JUST A BUG OF YOUR LAPTOP

PALM OIL Palm oil is grown in many parts of the world like Asia, Africa and SouthAmerica. The main countries that grow palm oil are Indonesia, Malaysia,Thailand, Nigeria and Colombia but I am going to concentrate of Indonesiafor my research. Palm Oil trees are grown in these places because of the wet,low lying tropical climate and because of the good soil in the area. Palm oilwas believed that Arab traders brought palm oil into Egypt dating back into3,000 BCE which is what caused palm oil to exist in this world today andgrow here. This is a picture of where palm oil is produced

PALM OIL Palm oil is a common ingredient that is used in consumer products likebiscuits, ice cream, chocolate, noodles, cereal, bread, candy and drinks, it isalso used in shampoos, detergent, toothpaste, cream, sprays, soap, lipstickand lots more. Many products that use palm oil rely on this oil because this iswhat makes their product boom and make their costumers buy it moreoften. Palm oil production is expanding very quickly and is causingdeforestation to meet their demand, every day parts of Indonesia’s rainforests are cleared to make places for palm oiltrees to grow. It is said that they are going to clear 26 millionhectares before 2025 and this deforestation is causing thenatural habitat to become endangered, animals that areendangered today are rhinos, elephants, Sumatran tigers andorangutans which have been pushed to the edge ofextinction. Deforestation has also led for the local people tobecome displaced and they have also lost their land, theirhealth has also been affected because of the burning forestto make more land. People who live high up in themountains would be affected too.

ProsCons SustainableDeforestation Trees don’t require much spaceCarbon dioxide after deforestation Money savingDisplaced land Last for about 25 yearsEndangered wildlife Don’t need to be replacedGlobal warming PALM OIL In every situation there are pros and cons about something like palm oil. Here is a list that show some of the problems… This table shows us that palm oil isn’t so bad even tough ithas bad sides because it could be sustainable and savesmoney but to do this you have to deforest forests whichleads to global warming. So it’s really hard to concludewhether palm oil is good or bad.

PALM OIL  Should third world developing countries plant cash crops?  What alternatives might exist if palm oil isn’t planted?

CARBONSTORES Carbon trading is when countries have a permit to produce a specificamount of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases. This commitment wasmade by the Kyoto Protocol, if countries accept this commitment then theywill have to try to control pollution by attempting to pollute less than theirpermit. If they pollute more than their permit than they are fined with money.Countries that have this permit and are part of the Kyoto Protocol areAustralia, New Zealand, European Union, Tokyo, United States, South Korea,China, India and Canada
