SME)

11 EMBL, Online Conference Initial training of researchers: Marie Curie Networks Programme: - Structured training for early stage researchers in a certain scientific area - Recruitment of early stage researchers and senior/established researchers for scientific chairs - Funding for the organisation of conferences and seminars - Host institutions can be located in EU, Associated States and Third Countries Application: - Institution consortia between 3 and 7 partners apply to the European Commission - After successful evaluation (2 stages), the coordinating institution starts negotiations with the European Commission - After starting the project, vacancies for doctoral students will be published

20 EMBL, Online Conference Individual Fellowships for Postdocs - Application application for Individual Fellowships only after a "Call for Proposal" in the Official Journal of the EU/CORDIS Calls are issued about once a year proposal consists of some forms and a free text part the researcher has to fill in / write "Handbooks" and "Guides for Proposers" offered by the Commission of every Marie Curie Action strict deadline!

25 EMBL, Online Conference The ERC - Start Up Strategy - ERC Starting Independent Research Grants: - € 300-350 m per year (around 200 grants awarded each year, project duration up to 5 years) -for independent and excellent individual research teams (transnationally or nationally composed) Independence: -"... investigators having authority to apply for, hold, and manage their own research funding, and to publish as senior authors" Submission Procedure: -two step procedure -electronic proposal submission (sub-deadlines) First calls at the end of 2006 or in early 2007
