Washing Feet

WASHING one another’s FEET

Washing Feet Neither do I condemn you He who is forgiven little, loves little Since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet

Washing Feet John 13:1–17 1 It was just before the Passover Feast. Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he now showed them the full extent of his love.

Washing Feet 2 The evening meal was being served, and the devil had already prompted Judas Iscariot, son of Simon, to betray Jesus. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist.

Washing Feet 5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him. …

Washing Feet 12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am.

Washing Feet 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.

Washing Feet 16 I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

Washing Feet 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.

Washing Feet AN ATTITUDE OF HUMILITY which leads to THE PRACTICE OF HUMILITY

Washing Feet John 13:14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.

Washing Feet Philippians 2:3–8 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Washing Feet 5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

Washing Feet 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross!

Washing Feet Romans 12:3 3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.

Washing Feet John 13: I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him

Washing Feet John 13:15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.

Washing Feet John 13:3-4 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist.

Washing Feet John 13:17 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

Washing Feet 1 Peter 5:5–6 All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.

Washing Feet Isaiah 57:15 15 The high and lofty one who lives in eternity, the Holy One, says this: “I live in the high and holy place and with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts.

Washing Feet Isaiah 66:2 I, the L ORD, have spoken! “I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts, who tremble at my word.

Washing Feet Zechariah 9:9 9 Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, Gentle [humble] and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Washing Feet Who is it before whom you would find it most difficult to humble yourself? THAT’S WHO THE LORD IS SPEAKING ABOUT THAT’S WHOSE FEET YOU NEED TO WASH
