Online Housing Lottery: An Introduction to the Housing Management Portal [Slides will automatically advance]

Using The Housing Portal The housing selection process is fully online. Selecting your housing will be similar to how you select your courses online. This presentation will show you how to navigate the Housing Management Portal. Let’s get started!

Login via SIS To begin, login to SIS and select Housing from the menu ribbon toward the bottom of the page.

Welcome Once logged in, you will be greeted by a welcome screen. Click on Application in the top left hand corner to continue.

A Quick Overview Choosing your housing via the Housing Portal is divided into three parts: 1. Completing Your Application 2. Forming Groups 3. Selecting Your Room(s)

PART 1: Completing Your Application

Click the Application Period for which you are applying to select it, then click on Save & Continue. Step 1: Select Application

Double check your contact information. If there is an error, you must change it in SIS Online; you cannot make changes here. Once you verify your information, click Save & Continue. Step 2: Verify Your Personal Info

Step 3: Online Housing Contract This is the online Undergraduate Housing Agreement. Please read the Agreement carefully. After reading, check off “I Agree” and then click Save & Continue.

Step 4: Lottery Selection Here you will select the lottery in which you wish to participate. Click on the drop-down box and make your selection. As an example, let’s pick Sophia Gordon. (All lottery selections can be made the same way.)

Step 4: Lottery Selection Once you’ve selected your lottery, click Save & Continue.

PART 2: Forming Groups

Creating Groups To apply for an apartment, you must create a Group of people to apply together or join a group. You cannot join multiple groups. Only one person can be the Group Leader and create a Group. The Group Leader will: Verify your group lottery number; Make the apartment selection; Assign rooms for the entire group.

Step 5: Group Formation (Creating Your Group) If you are the Group Leader, click “Create a new group.”

Step 5: Group Formation (Creating Your Group) Group Leaders will create a Group Name and Password and click Save & Continue. Group Leaders should share this exact information with their group members to enable the members to add themselves to the group.

Step 5: Group Formation (Creating Your Group) By clicking on “Search for roommates by details," The Group Leader can add each Group member by their Student ID Number. After adding each member, click Save & Continue.

Step 5: Group Formation (Creating Your Group) Once your Group is complete, click Verify Group. Your screen will refresh with a confirmation in red text.

If you are NOT the Group Leader and they did not add you, you’ll need to join your Group by clicking “Add yourself to a group.” Step 5: Group Formation (Joining Your Group)

Enter the unique Group Name and Password given to you by your Group Leader and click Save & Continue. Step 5: Group Formation (Joining Your Group)

Step 5: Group Formation (Completing Your Group) Once your Group is complete, click Confirm. This will create a Group Lottery Number. If your Group Lottery Number is high enough, you will be emailed a time slot to select your apartment. If it is not high enough, you will have time to discuss your choices and make other plans.

Completing the Application Process Once your Group is complete and confirmed, no further action is needed at this time. You will receive an email with your application status and selection time if appropriate.

PART 3: Selecting Your Room(s)

About Room Selection If your Group Lottery Number was high enough, you will receive an email in the days following the close of the application period with your Housing Selection Time. At Your Housing Selection Time, your Group Leader will: Need to login to the Housing Portal; Go through the Housing Selection process; Assign rooms for each person in your group.

Step 6: Room Selection The Group Leader will click on the Building in which you’d like to make a housing selection. Only the buildings available in your lottery will be visible.

Step 6: Room Selection Select the apartment/suite you would like to live in next year. Click Save & Continue.

Step 6: Room Selection When picking an apartment/suite, you must select ALL of the rooms in order to continue. Select each room, then click Save & Continue.

Step 6: Room Selection The Group Leader selects his/her room first. Then the Group Leader selects the rooms for the other members of the Group. If you assign the same room multiple times (e.g., 3 people in a double, or 2 in a single), the computer will not let you continue. Once all rooms are assigned, click “Reserve Beds.”

You will now reach the Confirmation screen. No further action is required at this time. Step 7: Confirmation
