Equality in Islam Aware Center

The 3 main manifestations of equality:
Social equality. Equality before the law – political rights. Establishing justice in financial dealings.

Equality of Men & Women “Lo! Men who surrender unto Allah and women who surrender, and men who believe and women who believe, and men who obey and women who obey, and men who speak the truth and women who speak the truth, and men who persevere (in righteousness) and women who persevere (in righteousness), and men who are humble and women who are humble, and men who give alms and women who give alms, and men who fast and women who fast, and men who guard their modesty and women who guard their modesty, and men who remember Allah much and women who remember Allah much – Allah hath prepared for them forgiveness and a vast reward.” Quran 33 v35

Adam & Eve “It is Allah Who created you from a single soul and then created, of like nature, his mate.” (Quran 7 v189) “O mankind! Be conscious of your Sustainer, who has created you out of one living entity (nafs), and out of it created its mate, and out of the two spread abroad a multitude of men and women. And remain conscious of God, in whose name you demand your rights from one another, and of these ties of kinship. Verily, God is ever watchful over you! (Quran 4 v1)

“O mankind! We created you from a single pair of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, so that you may know one another (not that you amy despise one another). Verily, the most honoured among you in the sight of God is the one who is the most righteous. And God is All Knowing, All Aware.” (Quran 49 v13)

“And among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the variations in your languages and your colours. Verily in that are signs for those who know.” (Quran 30 v22)

“The believers, men and women, are protectors of one another
“The believers, men and women, are protectors of one another. They enjoin what is just, and forbid what is evil and observe regular prayers, pay alms, and obey Allah and His Messenger. On them will Allah pour his mercy, for Allah is exalted in power, Wise. Allah has promised to the believers, men and women, gardens under which rivers flow (in paradise).” (Quran 9 v71-72)

Accountability “No human being shall be of the least avail to another human being” (Quran 82 v19) “And whatever wrong any human being commits rests upon himself alone; and no bearer of burdens shall be made to bear another’s burden..” (Quran 6 v165)

Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) said, “Surely God does not look at your faces or your bodies, but looks at your hearts and your deeds.”

“I shall not lose sight of the labour of any of you who labours in My way, be it man or woman; each of you is equal to the other.” (Quran 3 v195)
