The CVTA is YOU, the teachers of the NFSB The CVTA is the accredited bargaining unit as per the Labour Code (a) “association of employees”: a group of employees constituted as a professional syndicate, union, brotherhood or otherwise, having as its objects the study, safeguarding and development of the economic, social and educational interests of its members and particularly the negotiation and application of collective agreements
The CVTA is a member union of QPAT, representing the 9 local unions of the English sector in Quebec The affairs of the CVTA are administered by the Executive Committee (7 members including the President): President, V-P Elem, V-P Secondary, V-P Adult & Tech Voc, Treasurer, Secretary, Chairperson The Executive answers to the Representatives’ Council which consists of representatives from each school and centre and meets at least 5 times per year. Schools and Centres have (as per the CVTA Constitution) official voting representation in a 20:1 (or part thereof) ratio. At least once per year (usually in May) there is a General Meeting for the entire membership.
Quebec Provincial Association of Teachers Represents the teachers of Quebec in the English sector Affiliated with FSE for negotiations pertaining to teachers Also affiliated with the SISP, Common Front, CSQ, CFT QPAT Office: Executive Director, Executive Assistants, Office Staff QPAT Exec: President, Treasurer, Secretary, Chairperson, 3 Members-At-Large QPAT BOD: Representatives from each local union in a 1:300 ratio
This year is our Collective Agreement expires on March 31 st, 2015 QPAT is currently putting together the contract demands for the teachers along with the FSE (sectorial demands) Intersectorial demands (salary, etc.) deal with the public sector as a whole (Common Front) This will be an important year for members to unite in solidarity to protect the rights that have been fought for in the past
