1 What do you PREFER? (Project Researching and Engaging in Federalism Exploring Republicanism) This is an excellent opportunity to: - enhance research skills - integrate current events - strengthen cooperative talents - develop presentation skills Form a group of three, select a current event in which the federal government and one or more state government(s) are at odds with one another with respect to which level of government is in control. (previous projects have included gay marriage, marijuana, transportation, firearm rights/control, education, Title IX – in/equity in intercollegiate athletics, although you are welcome to propose additional topics.) The second level of the project is to incorporate all of the vocabulary from the federalism chapter. The third part of the project is to pick a Federalist Paper which relates to your topic and integrate it! Each student will be responsible for 4 slides that will be worth 20points each. In order to earn the twenty points for each slide, students must have an vibrant, interesting, and related image on each slide with MLA citations, factual descriptions of the current event, a vocabulary word from the federalism chapter, and some reference or connection to the selected Federalist Paper. The presentation will also be worth twenty points and will be evaluated based on factual accuracy, clarity, eye contact, and projection.

2 Monday, October 6 th – intro, teams, and topics Homework – Research and read Federalist Paper Wednesday, October 8 th – Slide organization and creation – determine coverage of vocab. and Federalist Paper quotes Homework: Create a detailed outline. Friday, October 10 th – Slide construction and finalization Homework: upload project to Drive: Wednesday, October 15 th – Presentations begin.
