Lesson Objective To explore the many different careers associated with the Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics Career Cluster. To expose students to the transportation industry through the fictional creation of their own transportation company.

Transportation Project You are now charged to start your own transportation company You will use the software “Locomotion” to complete this project Your project will consist of taking statistics and creating a presentation over how well your company grew and what steps you took to make it a success.
Constraints You must use the “North America (Midwest) 1920” scenario for this project under the “Easy” tab Please name your company Must be appropriate…no “slang” Stats must be taken every year. Any missing years will result in a loss of points Use the “pause” function while taking stats. Compete the following each year: Company Balance Sheet Fleet Management
Constraints Your goal is to grow your business to a net value of $500,000 You may select any transportation industry you would like to pursue Look for opportunities. Keep track of where and what your different units are doing.
Presentation Questions Within your company, what form of transportation generates the majority of your companies revenue? Why did you pick this form of transportation? How did you make your company profitable? What did you do well and what could you have done better as a company? Where did you start your business and why did you start there?
Presentation Questions Research your primary revenue generating transportation industry and present the following on one specific company within that industry: History - how the company was started Profitability and Size – how does this company make money How does this company tie to the economy here.
