God’s Rights  There is a lot of talk today about rights of different individuals. We read in newspaper and hear on TV and Radio about the rights of the unborn, older folks, women and even the rights of children not to be disciplined in school.

God’s Rights  But what are God's rights? Many times these are forgotten or simply ignored. Yet God has rights He has informed us about. And there are certain rights God has reserved unto himself in things of a spiritual nature.

God’s Rights  He doesn't think like we do. When we try to put in our own ways and ideas and supersede what God has instructed us to do we violate his rights (Isa. 55:8).

God’s Rights "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD. Isaiah 55:8

God’s Rights  Right To Make Laws  From beginning - Gen. 2:16-17

God’s Rights And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die." Genesis 2:16-17

God’s Rights  Right To Make Laws  From beginning - Gen. 2:16-17  Today - Heb. 8:8-13

God’s Rights Because finding fault with them, He says: "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah-- 9 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the LORD. 10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 11 None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more." 13 In that He says, "A new covenant," He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away. Hebrews 8:8-13

God’s Rights  Right To Make Laws  From beginning - Gen. 2:16-17  Today - Heb. 8:8-13 Different laws today There are those who know where to look up the law  Look to bible for God’s laws - 2 Tim. 3:16- 17

God’s Rights All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

God’s Rights  Right To Remit Sin - His Way  Some think you can go to man  God is the only one who has that right - Rom 3:23; 1 Jn. 3:4

God’s Rights for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 1 John 3:4

God’s Rights  Right To Remit Sin - His Way  Notice how some folks say do it today? Some say confess to some man Continual cleansing-do what you want don't have to worry about sin. Some say baptism is an outward sign of an inward grace - Acts 2:38 If you can't do it God's way there is no other way - Heb. 10:16-18

God’s Rights "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them," 17 then He adds, "Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more." 18 Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin. Hebrews 10:16-18

God’s Rights  Right To Restrict Religious Activity  Churches and religious organizations sponsor all kinds of things A car wash for a youth camp Many think anything goes - 2 Jn. 9: Matt. 7:21

God’s Rights Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 2 John 9 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” Matthew 7:21

God’s Rights  Right To Restrict Religious Activity  Churches and religious organizations sponsor all kinds of things A car wash for a youth camp Many think anything goes - 2 Jn. 9: Matt. 7:21 Church sponsoring of entertainment, recreation, orphans and widows home is a violation of God's rights - Jas. 1:27

God’s Rights Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. James 1:27

God’s Rights  Rights In Regard To Worship  He specifies - Jn. 4:23-24

God’s Rights "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." John 4:23-24

God’s Rights  Rights In Regard To Worship  He specifies - Jn. 4:23-24  Sometimes we have the truth but spirit missing.  I admire the zeal of many other groups. Knock on doors J.W. fastest growing with false doctrine. Some folks look liked weaned on a dill pickle. Acts 2:42

God’s Rights And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Acts 2:42

God’s Rights  Right To Add To Church  All the votes of all the people don't make a difference - Acts 2:47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:47

God’s Rights  Right To Set End Of Time  A book was written about 20 years ago that said world was going to end September 1988  J.W.'s have set dates that come and go - Matt. 24:26

God’s Rights “Therefore if they say to you, 'Look, He is in the desert!' do not go out; or 'Look, He is in the inner rooms!' do not believe it.” Matthew 24:26

God’s Rights  Right To Set End Of Time  A book was written about 20 years ago that said world was going to end September 1988  J.W.'s have set dates that come and go - Matt. 24:26  He will catch many unprepared - 2 Pet. 3:10

God’s Rights But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 2 Peter 3:10

God’s Rights  Right To Set End Of Time  A book was written about 20 years ago that said world was going to end September 1988  J.W.'s have set dates that come and go - Matt. 24:26  He will catch many unprepared - 2 Pet. 3:10  For some it will be a great day while for others a sad day. But it will be a sure day.  Difference between wise and foolish virgin was preparation - Matt. 25:3

God’s Rights “Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them,” Matthew 25:3

God’s Rights  As we have seen, God has rights that supersede the rights of man. We can exercise right were God has exercised his.  But man, being a free moral agent, a creature of choice, has a right to be saved or not. You can exercise that right at this time.
