SAMPLE SUPPORT #1– His situation reminded him of the horrible ordeal he had just escaped. Before he could even get to Oswego, he had to board a train which reminded him of his journey to captivity at one of the Nazi prison camps. *NOTE: Check to see that all three supports are different and not a reworded version of the previously stated support.

9 USE TEXT-BASED SUPPORTS SUPPORT 2 – When he arrived in Oswego, it seemed like it was no better. He was greeted by barbed wire fences and military personnel. SUPPORT 3 – Walter Greenburg commented, “I felt deceived. I felt that I should have been free. I mean I felt wonderful. I had doctors. I had nurses. I had food. I came to school. Oswegians were very kind…What good is it to have all the amenities of life if one still isn’t free?”

10 End With a Closing Statement That Summarizes the Main Idea. SAMPLE In his mind, Walter was probably thinking kindness does not replace freedom.
