They help children to develop their ICT skills in a meaningful way throughout other curriculum areas. For example, over a series of lessons, children in Year 3 used the 'Healthy Teeth' app to support work in Science (Teeth and Healthy Eating), Literacy (Instruction Writing) and ICT (Combining text and images). 6 © SIMPLE LTD Hillside Primary School had only been using Purple Mash for a few months when they were inspected by OFSTED. Year 1 had been learning the principles of ‘Reviewing and Improving’ by using 2DIY 3D to build their own games. Their teacher demonstrated this lesson plan format to the OFSTED inspector. The children were actively engaged throughout the whole class, and demonstrated a critical awareness of their own work. OFSTED OUTSTANDING Every teacher in the UK aspires to achieve the OFSTED Outstanding mark. It is the highest educational accolade. The whole lesson was observed by an inspector and I was delighted when he judged it as being “Outstanding”. Hillside Primary School, 2013

13 © SIMPLE LTD When asked if they liked 2Build a Profile 100% of teachers replied YES When asked if it had saved them time 95% of teachers replied YES LEICESTER CITY In 2013 Leicester City Council conducted an independent case study of 2Build a Profile. 20 schools, 70 teachers, and 1,500 pupils took part. 100% of schools continued to use 2Build a Profile after the case study ended

15 © SIMPLE LTD Two test groups of University physics students were taught using different methods The first received lecture based teaching from a highly regarded Professor The second were taught using interactive learner-engagement methods administered by a junior lecturer The interactive method had almost no lecturing, relying instead on discussions, in-class quizzes, demonstrations, and Q&A sessions. At the end of the term the two groups sat their standard assessements They found ‘increased student attendance, higher engagement, and more than twice the learning’ in the group taught using interactive learner- engagement methods.
