Arts & Urban Teaching Academy ) -Presentation with interested students in December  International Baccalaureate Program (King, Hillsborough Robinson, Strawberry Crest, depending on address)  Jefferson High Center for International Studies (International Business Honors, E-commerce Marketing Honors, or Global Finance Honors, International Culinary Arts Honors, International Law & Criminal Justice Honors, and Maritime & Marine Environmental Science Honors)  Middleton High (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) › Biomedical-Biotechnology, Computer Game Design, Computer Systems Engineering

8  Tampa Bay Technical High (Academy of Health Professions, Academy of Architecture & Environmental Design, non-magnet Technical Programs, Health Administration) › (school choice –www.mytbt.com)  Collegiate Academies at Armwood, Lennard & Leto › Opportunity to earn an A.A. degree from Hillsborough Community College free of cost on school campus › Teaches “college knowledge”  Programs at Armwood and Leto were new last year Transportation provided to all magnets (unless under 2 mile radius from school & in some areas may be limited)

9  Grades from 7 th and 8 th semester one  FCAT scores – 6 th and 7 th grade › (better of 2 for reading & math)  High school courses taken in middle school › IB programs: Students must pass Algebra 1  Writing Sample – must preregister (Nov. 12)  Blake Arts Program: schedules auditions/portfolio presentation  Blake Urban Teaching Academy sichedules interviews

10  Application period begins November 12 th  DEADLINE is December 18th, 2013  Ensure students are preregistered for Writing Sample (Nov. 12 th )  Parents apply online up to 8 magnet programs › Contact me if you are unable to apply online › If your child did not a HCPS for 6 th & 7 th a paper application is required

12  Berkeley Preparatory  Tampa Preparatory  Academy at the Lakes (Pasco)  Academy of Holy Names – girls  Jesuit High School – boys  Tampa Catholic  Bishop McLaughlin Catholic (Pasco)  Carrollwood Day School  Seffner Christian Academy  TCMS provides transcripts and recommendations to area private schools if requested and to out of county schools

13  Information located on HCPS website  For Current Out of County Students: › Obtain a release form from the county you live in › Complete an application › Submit the release form and application to Office of Student Planning and Placement › DEADLINE is December 17th

14  Apply to as many as student is interested › up to 8 magnet programs  TCMS has established reputation of prepared students  Attend Open Houses, Information meetings  Remember deadlines for applications › Please let me know if you are applying to Private Schools before winter break  Decisions for magnet programs made by mid-February- mail notification  Programming of 9 th grade courses done for all students

15  24 credits necessary to graduate  18 credit option (not recommended for college prep)  Take the most advanced courses possible to be competitive for college  2 credits in foreign language › ( not required for graduation, however required for college admissions)  Students will be completing a Personal Career and Education Plan

16 Student 1 – straight A’s in all regular classes- 4.0 GPA Student 2 – Made a B in the one honors class he took GPA Student 3 – Made a C in the one AP class he took GPA Student 4 – Made a C in 8 AP classes and a B in 20 regular classes GPA Student 5 – Made a C in 8 honors and 8 AP classes; made a B in 12 regular classes GPA
