EPS and PDF File Import/Export Bob Kisel, Jeff South Amgraf, Inc.

PDF File Import Conversion Runs on Win32 Platforms (Win9x, Win2000, XP) Interface from Mecca2000, Mecca III available OneForm Plus Import from File Menu

Mecca 2000 Interface Use Browser Interface to Connect to Win32 server for conversion. Uploads the PDF file to server. Runs the Conversion at server. Mecca 2000 loads file directly from server.

OneForm Interface File->Import->PDF Files Browse for the PDF file Select the Page to Load Modify Font/Color Selections Load the PDF Page

EPS File Import Import from File menu on both Mecca 2000 and OneForm Plus Import written to run natively on each system.

PDF Import No-Nos We cannot import LZW compressed files. These files only come from Distiller Version 3 and before. If you only have a Distiller 3, do not compress the output. We cannot import protected PDF files. The maker must remove protection first.

PDF Import Guidelines Best conversion is from files done with separation color. These import naturally into our layer color model. When we bring in a file, we try to match to an existing FCP number rather than create a matching dynamic FCP number. You may need to alter layer color CMYK values.

PDF Import Enhancements Switch to create FCP matching entries. Modify Genform to support Iforms with process color, since number of colors do not matter when we are not producing output plates.

EPS/PDF File Export Mecca 2000 and OneForm Plus can output either EPS or PDF Files, if done the right way.

Mecca 2000 EPS Output Select Type of Color/Separation Output Separations: … Composite Color …

Mecca 2000 Separations Select One Sep Per File Creates separate EPS file for each color EPS output produces Color PDF File only. For Black and White Separations select appropriate printer and name output file with.PS extension

Mecca 2000 Composite Select One Part Per Page Creates single EPS File with all colors

Mecca 2000 PDF Output All the same color options as outlined for EPS output. Then Invoke Acrobat Distiller to produce the PDF file.

OneForm EPS Output 1 Most General Method: Select a PostScript Printer, check EPS file output Use the normal File->Print option This will work for any combination of PostScript or TrueType fonts

OneForm EPS Output 2 Less General Method: Use the OneForm typeset output selection. This will produce PostScript code similar to Mecca 2000 but requires that the Type 1 fonts are setup and loaded on the system.

OneForm PDF Output 1 Similar to EPS option 1, but select PDF writer as the output printer. This works fine for display in reader.

OneForm PDF Output 2 Same steps as EPS output 1, but then use Acrobat Distiller to produce the PDF file.
