Strategy 16 Strengthen Your Child’s Tactile Mode of Learning Movement helps with long term memory! The old saying “Just like riding a bike” is true. If you learn it while you are moving you have a better chance of remembering it!”
Movement has these Advantages 1. Increases the brain’s level of motivation. 2. Creates a positive state of learning. 3. Raises test scores. 4. Prepares the body and brain to learn 5. Increases the level of children’s engagement, attention, and participation 6. Helps children in more easily retaining and recalling information
Continued Role Play-Have your child act out a situation or idea to help them remember the information. Movement-put the body in motion. Have you ever wondered why your child can remember every word to cheers and songs? – Have your child clap out spelling words – Make a number line with masking tape and have them move up down for addition and subtraction – Make up songs and cheers for history facts
Continued Have students jump rope or clap while skip counting.. Have children act out new vocabulary (do it with them and see who is the best.) Have children use their bodies to move and act out spelling words or body spell. Have them dramatize a story they have just read.
