4 NATO-North Atlantic Treaty organization formed by western European nation for defense Warsaw Pact-organization formed by eastern block Communist nations in response to NATO

5 Satellite state-Eastern European Communist nations controlled by the Soviet Union Iron Curtain-Symbolic separation between Eastern European communist nations and the free western European countries Berlin Wall-built to separate Soviet east and free west Berlin
