2 Vocabulary 13 Democracy- A government in which the citizens make political decisions by voting. City-state-A political unit made up of a city and its surrounding lands. Tyrant- Someone who takes power illegally. Oligarchy- A government ruled by a few powerful people. philosopher- A person who offers views or theories on profound questions in ethics.

3 The rest of Unit 13 Vocabulary Cavalry- A unit of soldiers who ride horses. Strategy- A plan for fighting a battle or war. Phalanx- A group of warriors who stood close together in a square.

5 Human Impact on civilization One Civilization was known for it’s Philosophers Also one is known for it’s fierce warriors. One of the Civilization has the world famous general

6 Important people/ Leaders(Roles) Roles for Important people- Some times they don’t have a Monarchy this is called Democracy. The people that are in charge are voted to office. Roles for leaders- Leaders are not voted in they are in a family tree of ruling. This is called Monarchy.

7 Impact of the person When the king is not elected and does anything he wants he is not so favored with his subjects. When a person is elected he has almost everyone's vote so that means that people chose him.

8 Contributions of Civilization Some of the achievements are a new government called democracy. Also they had great Philosophers. And that one city-state had an advance amour and weapons.

9 Conflict (Battles) Greece fought against Persia. Because Persia wanted to have more land, but Greece would not let that happen. Also they had Civil wars one famous is the Peloponnesian war. That was when Sparta tried to take land from Athens, but they got caught and the war happened.

10 Conflict ( Geographical) One problem is that they had no rivers. Also the land was to big to rule so it was easier to attack.
