2 Dr. Ghatam Karthick – Ghatam, Konnakol, Vocal As a kid, Karthick had fascination and obsession towards the humble pot instrument, which brought the great fortune to be under the guidance of Ghatam Maestro Shri Vikku T.H. Vinayakram and Legendary Genius Shri T.H. Subash Chandran. As one of the most preferred artist, Karthick has accompanied almost all top-ranking artists of Carnatic music. Graded "A" in All India Radio, Chennai, Karthick has also been part of National Sangeeth Sammelans, National Programs of Music, South Zone, invited audience concerts both in All India Radio and National TV. Karthick has also performed with various artists in numerous album recordings. Karthick has performed globally at various prestigious venues including the United Nations. Karthick leads this popular percussion based musical group the heArtbeat Ensemble, which has been highly acclaimed by press and public. Embar Kannan - Silent Violin - Kannan is the co-lead of the ensemble and the lead violinist in this ensemble – on the Silent Violin. A highly accomplished violinist, Kannan is in the forefront of violinists of the younger generation. His bowing technique is of high quality, marked by sweetness and clarity. Kannan is a disciple of Smt. A. Kanyakumari and is the recipient of many awards and honors for both his solo and his accompanying skills. He is an A grade artist of the All India Radio (AIR) and has played solo concerts and violin duets with his guru. He has accompanied many leading artists. He has also traveled widely and has performed (and continues to perform) in many concerts in USA, Europe, and the Far-East. Poongulam Subramanian – Mridangam - Started his tutelage with his father. Later he shifted to Chennai. Poongulam Subramanian has won the hearts of many by his accompaniment skills. He has travelled widely both in India and abroad. In 1991, he got the 'best percussionist' award from YACM. He has also been honoured by numerous music organizations for the deft handling of the percussion instrument Mridangam. He has made successful concert tours to Far-East, America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. He accompanies many leading artists. Keyboard Sathya – Keyboard - Sathya has been a child prodigy giving full concerts since the age of 6 and touring internationally since age 8 and has published 9 albums between the age of 8 and 14. He has pioneered the introduction and mainstream use of the western keyboard into the hoary Indian Classical Music form in a captivating manner. A leading solo classical keyboard performer in his own right, he has given hundreds of performances all over India and abroad accompanied by leading percussionists and violinists. BS Arunkumar – Rhythm Pads brings yet another western percussion (rhythm pads) into Carnatic Classical realm and lends a new dimension to this percussion ensemble. inspired by his father Sri B.S. Sukumar who is a drummer, Arun ventured into the field of Percussion music at the tender age of 7.Later he received Carnatic percussion training under Sri S. V. Giridhar, advanced training in percussions under the rich guidance of eminent artiste Layakala Pratibhamani Sri Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma and is presently learning the subtleties of Jazz drumming under renowed drummer Sri Ranjit Barot. Plays on the western drums, morsing and several Indian folk percussions. Has been in the field of music since 1986 and rendered percussion support to Carnatic Classical, Talavadya, Jazz Music, Light Music and dance performances. Has given performances all over India and has extensively toured USA, UK, Canada, Germany, Holland, France, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Belgium, Spain, Luxemburg Hong Kong and Sri Lanka. Shree Sundar Kumar – Kanjira Sundarkumar is a leading musician in the world of rhythm. After initial tutelage under his father and well-known Mridangist Vidwan Dr. K B S Mani, and had his formal training on the Mridangam from Maestro Guru Karaikudi Sri R Mani, Sundarkumar has established himself as one of the foremost laya vadhya artiste’ of our time with a high reputation. Under his parent’s able guidance, Sundarkumar joined the gurukula at the tender age of six. He is an ‘A’ Grade artist in the All India Radio. Sundarkumar has adapted well to his new instrument much to the awe of everyone in the music circle. He was immediately accredited with a B High grade at All India Radio for kanjira. His first concert was in Malaysia, where he accompanied many thala vadhya exponents alongside his own guru in a percussion ensemble. Many prominent vidhwans and vidhushis favored Sundarkumar’s style of playing and he was given the opportunity to accompany many stalwarts in the Carnatic Music field. His performances include lot of Jugalbandis & Fusion music. He’s extensively toured in India and across the world to accompany senior musicians. He has been one of the most sought after Kanjira artist by leading percussion artists.
