7 www.clim-atic.org Climate Change - Adapting to The Impacts, by Communities in Northern Peripheral Regions WP5 (adaptation training and advice service) outputs so far: WP5 survey summary: Training on climate change adaptation in local level is needed (municipality workers, local authorities) Training should be given in national languages in a face-to-face seminars or 1-2 days courses Common topics that interested in all regions were energy and national resources, tourism and built environment and sharing the best knowledge and examples on how municipalities and regions can adapt and mitigate to climate change Regional differences: land slides and coastal issues in Norway for instance   the training and service needs clearly focus on local issues in local languages

8 www.clim-atic.org Climate Change - Adapting to The Impacts, by Communities in Northern Peripheral Regions WP5 (adaptation training and advice service) workshop in Feb: Goal of the workshop: To present and discuss relevant existing (and, possibly, planned) services, needs for such institutions, and possible synergies Participants: EEA Regional and govermental organisations working on climate change from Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Greenland, Norway, Sweden and Finland Outcome: List of common activities and needs regarding training and information services aiming at local government and SMEs on climate change adaptation; including training courses in national languages, other ways of outreach, need for assistance/input for national services
