3. RYLA’s an award that you earn – it’s a week at Hartwick College in Oneonta that will teach you leadership skills.

4. So just how do I earn this? Each Club in Rotary District 7170 has its own method of selecting candidates. Contact your local Rotary Club to find out how you can become a candidate.

5. YOU WILL LEARN:. FUNDAMENTALS OF LEADERSHIP. ETHICS OF POSITIVE LEADERSHIP. IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS. PROBLEM-SOLVING AND CONFLICT MANAGEMENT. ROTARY’S PURPOSE AND SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY. BUILDING SELF-CONFIDENCE AND SELF-ESTEEM. ELEMENTS OF COMMUNITY AND GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP So, what will I learn at the RYLA conference?

6. Is RYLA like school? Absolutely not!

7. Sure, you attend a few lectures.

8. But there are clubs that you join and participate in such areas as band, chorus, scuba diving, and swimming. There’s a weight room and basketball too.

9. It will help you develop important leadership skills – skills you will find essential in school, college and later in your job.

10. It will teach you to work with others – alone or in a group

11. And you’ll make friends that will last you a lifetime!
