1 So What is an SAE Anyway?

2 Supervised Agricultural Experience Cognitive and hands on learning experiences where students learn, practice, expand, and enhance the agricultural and natural resources skills learned in the classroom or laboratory. These experiences can take place during school hours, after school hours, in the school laboratory, at an agribusiness site or on a farm.

3 Supervised Agricultural Experience They can be grouped or individual activities. Students can include work for wages as well as volunteer and mentor activities. As part of these experiences students will keep personal and financial records. The agriscience teacher will oversee and manage these experiences.

4 So why should I encourage SAEs in my classroom? To provide students with: –Real world experiences –Opportunities for skill development –Opportunities to explore agricultural careers –Motivation to learn –Academic integration / reinforce classroom ideas and concepts

8 Other Types of SAE Areas Improvement Projects What are they?? A project that does not usually provide income but does provide ownership

9 Improvement Projects A project that can expand an existing SAE project Helps to improve the appearance and value of your SAE project Improve Efficiency, Comfort, and Convenience

12 SAE PORTFOLIO PROJECT Requirements: -Weekly Logs on Project -Record Book of Projects (FFA FORMS) -Presentation to the class on Your Project (Pictures and a Project) -Part of Final exam!!!!!!!! Any QUESTIONS!??!?!?!!?

13 SAE VISITS!! SAE visits are personal visits by me (Your Favorite Teacher) I will be looking at your project in depth. This is your time to shine and tell me about your project During this visit we will take pictures and I will look at your record book
