Mauna Loa, Hawaii By Aria Chambers & Nina Fuentes July 2011

 The largest volcano on Earth!  Located on the island of Hawaii It is called Mauna Loa meaning, “The Long Mountain” Last erupted in 1984

AVG. YEARLY TEMP IN DEGREES FAHRENHEIT (1960-2010) YearTemp 1960 (t= 0)44.45 1965 (t=5)43.29 1970 (t=10)43.61 1975 (t=15)43.35 1980 (t=20)46.66 1985 (t=25)45.71 1990 (t=30)45.53 1995 (t=35)45.86 2000 (t=40)46.23 2005 (t=45) Every 5 years r = 0.736

Definition: The current rise in average temperature of Earth’s oceans and atmosphere. How it affects living beings: SSea Ice & Glaciers Melt BBirds stay up North MMore intense hurricanes SSea level rises My Answer: Yes

 For both sets of data the graphs linear graphs increase. In particular both sets of data show that as more time passed, both the average yearly temperature and the carbon emissions levels increased.  However the correlation is stronger for carbon emissions than that for measuring the average yearly temperature. This is indicated by each correlation coefficient.  These results indicate that global warming is an issue that needs to studied for the future of the planet.
