II. What did Cameroon do with CSP funds? How did it manage them? Management Principles Activities conducted  CSP objectives  Adherence to Work Plan  Guide for support to national coordination activities  Physical and logistical organisation of meetings  Reproduction and distribution of documents on GEF  Communication via Internet

III. Results obtained on the ground  Gradual increase in awareness of GEF; the image of the Facility as an opportunity to be seized is now present in the minds of numerous actors  Many other actors are now interested in the environment sector because of this opportunity  Increased stakeholders’ activities: we are receiving more and more project concepts for GEF funding

III. Results obtained on the ground (cont’d)  There are synergies between the various actors, increasing in strength as communications increase with the GEF National Committee and with field actors  Cameroon’s priority projects for the first two years of the RAF have been identified consensually

IV. Main problems encountered  Disconnect between Focal Point’s various activities, realities in the field and the requirement of the Guide for use of CSP funds  Not enough funds for activities to promote GEF image in the field  Project monitoring on the ground is not really included in CSP budget

V. Main Lessons Learnt and Perspectives Increase CSP resources and allow other expense categories, such as project monitoring on the ground and GEF image promotion with the media Organize other national consultations to identify priorities for Phase 2 of RAF implementation Envisage trainings with the National Dialogue Initiative on what GEF means by “Governance in the CSP funds management process”
