Surface and Downhole Equipment Specs Downhole Pumps Successful designs typically based on experience Admiralty brass is harder than brass fittings (tensile ~ same as steel) Chrome plated brass barrels should be effective but difficult plating process Nickel carbide can wear rapidly in horizontal installations

Surface and Downhole Equipment Specs Rods Various loading capabilities –Different metallurgies No rods are corrosion resistant –You cant afford one that would be –Need a good chemical control program Recommended using a service factor of 1 (or more) when designing new rods –Especially if upgrading required
Surface and Downhole Equipment Specs Rods High strength rods are more notch sensitive HS rods limited by coupling strength MUST have an excellent chemical inhibition program with HS rods Rods typically dont fail in fatigue –Inspected rods can be rerun –Use a SF<1 when running used rods
