Both sources differ in their purpose. In Source B, the purpose is to assure the people that the Japanese would be defeated so that the people would not be alarmed. This implies that they have the right strategy to stop the Japanese.
The purpose is to explain to the listeners on the reasons for the British defeat so that they have a clear picture of the what happened during World War II. In the source it states that they never thought the British would be defeated because of their superior weapons. ‘But in matter of weeks, the Japanese just wiped them out’. This implies that the Japanese were too strong for the British.
