How can we show 25 hundredths graphically?

Shade in a (perfect) square within your square. Now… imagine that your original square is equal to one. (It has an area of 1cm²). What is shaded in is less than one. You have shaded in a fraction of the whole (or a decimal because it is less than one).

Show So the area of the colored part is 16/25 (moins que 1).

We multiply the denominators. We multiply the numerators. We reduce our final answers to lowest terms.
