Metabolism Metabolism = The sum of all reactions occurring in an organism –Catabolism – reactions involved in the breakdown of biomolecules; release heat/energy –Anabolism – reactions involved in the synthesis of biomolecules; absorb heat/energy.
Metabolism –Metabolism is the sum of catabolism and anabolism.
