Brush Science Fundraising for Costa Rica 2010 This presentation will help explain what fundraising we have available for our Costa RicaTrip.

Why go on a trip at all ? See different countries and cultures. See things you have only heard or read about. Learn about how to interact with people of a different culture. Have a lot of fun. See Biodiversity close up.

Cost of the trip. Without any fundraising, you can approximate the total cost of the trip to be around $ 2,200. This includes typical spending money of extra food, souvenirs and some entrance fees and passport. Shopping is naturally more.

Fundraising philosophy We will have fundraising available for anyone interested going on the trip. Any money raised must go to the trip. If a person raises money and then cant go on the trip, the money goes to the group. Someone must be responsible for each fundraiser to coordinate details.

Current Available Fundraisers The next several slides contains an overview of fundraisers that we currently have available to us. The list is not all inclusive. Keep checking your emails for updates on fundraisers.

TV Raffle We have a Panasonic 50 TV that has been donated by Snow Bros. Appliance here in Lyndhurst for cost. Make sure to thank Mr./Mrs. Kent when you see them. We will have the tickets available for you to start selling at the end of the meeting.

TV Raffle Currently we are determining that each person needs to sell $ 30 worth of tickets to pay for the TV. Any additional tickets that you sell is your profit for the trip. We have time to do 2 or 3 of these.

Personal planning - Birthday and Holiday presents can go to the trip. Players cutting down on many unnecessary purchases can help. Players have to make a decision if the trip is something worth sacrificing for. Eg. When I am at indoor, I see some players pour money into the arcade games there. Over the course of the season, it adds up.

Science Bowl We can run a SCIENCE BOWL contest and you can get sponsors for how many points you earn.

Sponsorship Letter We can get sponsors and send them an email postcards with photos from the trip from each place we visit. Minimal time. You have 5 months to get sponsors. $ 5 per sponsor

Euclid SportsPlant Euclid SportsPlant is willing to allow us to use their facility for some events. Movie night similar to what the YMCA offers. Day festivals.

Traditional Activities Car Washes Sales of items: Candy, pizza, etc. Gold Cards & Raffles Group Garage Sales Giant Eagle Booth Home Days, etc. Pepsi Trailer, etc.

Some other ideas There is a company that will recycle items such cell phones, old DVDs and inkjet cartridges. This one is more for group money because each person probably cant accumulate that many items. We can possibly schedule a mattress sale for March.

Summary -- Part 1 This was not meant to be an all inclusive list. Others certainly have more ideas. With a motivation to raise money for the trip, there are enough opportunities available currently to easily pay for more than ½ of the trip.

Summary -- Part 2 We will go over how to register for the trip through the Explorica website. Registering in the next few days will give you a $ 50 discount.
