 Linear Function- a function defined by f(x)=mx+b  Quadratic Function-a function defined by f(x)=ax^2 + bx+c  Parabola- the graph of a quadratic equation  Minimum Point- the lowest point of an upward- opening parabola  Maximum Point- the highest point on a downward opening parabola  Axis of Symmetry- the vertical line containing the vertex of a parabola  Vertex- the minimum or maximum point of a parabola

 1)Determine if the parabola opens up or down.(If “a” is positive, it opens up; if “a” is negative, it opens down)  2) Find the vertex.  3) Find more points by substituting numbers in for x in an x/y chart. Choose values for x that are near the vertex.  4) Graph the points and connect them.
