Do Now Pick up the Careful Coordination HW quiz Put ALL of your materials away except for your home work. Complete the quiz. If you did not do your homework your are on your own for the quiz. Quizzes are due on my 12:20.
Pick up respiratory system WS from the front counter. Pick up your journal if you haven’t done so yet.
STEPPING UP THE PACE Warm-up: Respiratory system diagram. – Use page 241 of your text to help you complete the diagram. Tape into your journal. Answer the following questions in your journal 1.What is the function of the respiratory system? 2.What happens to breathing rate when you exercise?
STEPPING UP THE PACE Maintaining Homeostasis involves the interaction of many systems. How do changes in one system affect the performance of another system? Not all of these systems can be observed easily One way to observe interaction of systems is to examine systems for which internal changes have measurable external effects How can you detect changes in circulation?
You will examine physical activity to explain interaction of organ systems in homeostasis. Observe fig. 5.5 on page 178. What are the roles of the endocrine and nervous systems? Answer questions 2a-d on page 178 Write a paragraph about how heart rate, breathing rate and exercise are related. Write a testable question that explores the relationship between breathing rate and exercise. Develop a testable hypothesis about the connection. Make sure the hypothesis is in If...Then…Because format.
EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN: (This should be copied into journal) Testable Question: Hypothesis: Manipulated variable Responding variable Experimental control Controlled variables (at least 2) Make a data table
