8 8 Mainstream Supported Employment Programme Mainstream provides a package of salary, training subsidies and other support, to help people with significant disabilities get work in the State sector Currently 229 people are participating in Mainstream across a range of employers Approximately 43% of participants move into fulltime permanent work Of this, approx 33% remain in work with their initial placement employer

9 9 Vocational services and supported employment Funding for vocational services and supported employment for this financial year is $86 million 41% used for contracts for employment services 49% used for contracts for community participation services 8% used for contracts for Very High Needs

10 10 SB/IB clients into work In the year ending 30 October 2010, 10,465 people receiving IB recorded receiving income from employment During the same period 5,551 people receiving SB or SBH recorded receiving income from employment 914 IB clients moved off benefit and into work 8,067 people receiving either SB or SBH moved off benefit and into work

11 11 A fair benefit system Payments will be made to those who genuinely need them People will understand that receiving support brings mutual obligations Resources will be targeted to those who need them Support will be provided so that people can help themselves People have a right of review when they don’t agree with decisions made by us

12 12 Health and Disability related benefits Invalid’s Benefit Sickness Benefit Domestic Purposes Benefit – Care of Sick or Infirm Disability Allowance Child Disability Allowance Civilian amputee assistance Live Organ Donor Assistance Veteran's Pension

13 13 Child Disability Allowance There are 43,096 children for whom CDA is paid (as at August 2010) Uptake of CDA has increased by 27% since August 2005 We continue to implement a range of initiatives to improve uptake including: profiling CDA information in a larger range of Ministry publications presentations to doctors and other health and disability organisations making information available at relevant community agencies and groups
