Tools were developed with input from several agencies, partners, graphic consultant, and field staff
Field-tested in Botswana, Kenya, and Nigeria
Tools easy to use, helpful in understanding PMTCT issues and made providers’ work easier
Request to increase content on HIV sero-discordance, develop brochures and separate post-delivery/ postpartum tools

CD-ROM contains files (MS-Word, PDF, In-Design) of all tools, to make text changes and print
Tools are free and in public domain

10. Current Status and Next Steps
Eight countries have adapted or are
planning to adapt the tools:
Mozambique, Cambodia, Ghana, Kenya, Zambia, Botswana, Ethiopia, Cote D’Ivoire
Available languages:
English (generic),
Portuguese (adapted for Mozambique), Khmer (adapted for Cambodia)
French (planned as a generic version)

11. Next Steps
Evaluate impact of Support Tools on uptake of TC in L&D and immediate PD settings
The objectives are to:
Determine the percentage of women with unknown HIV status in L&D and PD wards that can be reached with TC and PMTCT interventions
Describe barriers to implementing TC in LD settings
Determine if the introduction of the Support tools will improve HIV testing uptake and the quality of the counseling sessions
Support broader dissemination & implementation of the Support tools
