1 BMEGEÁTMW19 Aerodynamics and its application for vehicles BME & MOME LAB SESSION 2014 -LAB SESSIONs are guided by Gulyás András: gulyas@ara.bme.hugulyas@ara.bme.hu -5 measurement groups are formed of 2-3 students from BME & 1 from MOME -Each group (Nr.1. to Nr.5.) selected one design of the 8 concept car designs for the wind tunnel tests. -1:20 scale models will be built from wood and plasticine based on the available design. The basic concept + one aerodynamically modified version will be tested -Wind tunnel testing will be performed on aerodynamic performance (lift and drag vs. Reynolds-number, testing on 5 different wind velocities from 8m/s to 15/s in the NPL (National Physical Laboratory) type wind tunnel) -Flow visualization study will performed (with photo & video documentation) -Date of tests: on the 3rd and 5th of December, 2014 (WED & FRI), 60 minutes each, see schedule on the next pages BME and MOME students: please contact each other by email !

8 BMEGEÁTMW19 Aerodynamics and its application for vehicles Since MOME design concepts are chosen for modelling, the prescribed dimensions (LxWxH) are not valid anymore! Try to create a M 1:20 scale model that has a 60mmx60mm free flat plane on the underbody surface: the model vehicle must be fixed to the 60mmx60mm base plate with 11mm underbody gap in the wind tunnel!

9 BMEGEÁTMW19 Aerodynamics and its application for vehicles The car model will be fixed in the wind tunnel on a metal plate (60x60x3) with four ød=6mm boreholes of 45x45 placing. Please keep an appropriate free, horizontal plane surface on the underbody of the car models! 45 60 45
