2 What is the ‘Le Futur Proche’
What is the ‘Le Futur Proche’? In both, English and French, it is a way of describing what you are going to do in the near future. I am going to sing. As an action that will take place in the immediate future, the sentence is made up of the subject and the verb ‘to go’ followed by the infinitive of the second verb. Examples: I am going to watch a movie. We are going to eat a pizza.

3 How to form ‘le futur proche’
The subject The right part of the verb ‘aller’ A 2nd verb in the infinitive In French, you need three parts in your sentence, just as in English. They are: Examples: Je vais regarder un film Nous allons manger une pizza.

11 What is a Disjunctive Pronoun?
In English, we use our voice for emphasis. ex: HE is going? YOU like escargots? In French, we use Disjunctive Pronouns for emphasis: moi nous toi vous lui eux elle elles

12 Using Disjunctive Pronouns
To emphasize who is doing something, add a disjunctive pronoun at the end or at the beginning of the sentence. Tu aimes la pizza, TOI? = Do you like pizza? MOI, je vais regarder la télé = I am going to watch TV. In short answers without verbs. Qui va au parc? Pas moi! ELLE! = Not me! HER! Disjunctive pronouns can help to emphasize and identify people when the subject includes more that one person. MARC ET MOI, nous faisons du ski. = We're skiing. CLAIRE ET TOI, vous étudiez? = Are you and Claire studying?

13 Using Disjunctive Pronouns con’t
Use disjunctive pronouns after prepositions. Ils sont devant MOI. = They are in front of ME. Je vais chez TOI. = I am going to YOUR house. You can show possession by using "à" before a disjunctive pronoun. A qui sont les lunettes? = Elles sont à MOI. Ces gommes, elles sont à toi? Non, elles sont à ELLE. ***Do you remember this from your 6.04 Assignment?*** Use disjunctive pronouns in comparisons. Je suis plus grande que TOI. = I am is taller than YOU. Nous sommes plus intelligents qu'ELLE. = We are smarter than SHE.

14 Let’s Practice! Match the disjunctive pronoun with the subject it emphasizes!
moi toi lui elle nous vous eux elles Me You all Marc and I Pauline Your friend and you The boys You (singular) That boy My sisters
