Acts 1:1...(a) The former account I made. 1.This is what the NKJV says. The KJV says: The former treatise I made It is the same idea anyway. The NASB says: The former account I composed The idea, of all of these Bible versions is that before Acts was written there was another one already in place. 2.The Gospel of Luke? 3.Some erroneously believe that the word FORMER (protos) is the first of more than two. a. 8 after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, Acts 1:2...(c)... after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen,Acts No other commandments has Jesus given but the ones He gave to His apostles. When Luke is talking about apostles; we must understand that outside of these ones that Jesus chose, there are NO other apostles...The presumption of some to call themselves apostles is only that presumption! Jesus did not recognize: Joseph Smith... Mormons Charles Russell... Jehovah Witnesses. Mohammad...Muslims. Etc...These are false Apostles

Acts 1:21,22...

infallible Which ones? Jesus shows his disciples many proofs that He was the same before and after His crucifixion and Luke says that He showed many infallible proofs! Which ones? Infallible---From the Greek (tekmerion)...It doesnt appear anywhere else but here and the idea is: convincing, decisively proof! Acts 10:40, 41 The word proofs---from the Greek (tekmeriois) means positive proof; infallible proof; convincing proof; sure signs and ways... There is no doubt that he came from death, He is alive!

to whom He also presented Himself alive after by many infallible proofs... Acts 1:3...(b)... to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs... 19 ... And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, which, He said, you have heard from Me; Acts 1:4 (b)... And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, which, He said, you have heard from Me; Where did He command this the first time? Acts

Was the city important at all? Zechariah 2:10... Acts 1:8...

... And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, which, He said, you have heard from Me; Acts 1:4 (c)... And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, which, He said, you have heard from Me;Acts The promise! Matthew 3:11... Acts 2:32... John 14: Luke 22:49... Acts 1:8... Isaiah 44:3.. Joel 2:28...

... And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, which, He said, you have heard from Me; Acts 1:4 (d)... And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, which, He said, you have heard from Me;

Acts for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now. Acts 1:5... (a) for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now. What was the difference between the Baptism of John and the baptism of Jesus?

Lets make it straight this morning... What was the difference? Everything start here. Acts 1:5... Jesus approved Johns Baptism Matthew 21:25 FOR the remissions of sins Mark says that John Baptism was FOR the remissions of sins Mark 1:5; Luke also says the same. Luke 3:3; Matthew 3:11. But then, Apollo's was wrong when he was teaching the baptism of John. Acts 19:25,26. Later the Ephesians need to be baptized again because they were baptized in the baptism of John. Acts 19:3-5. Why?

Acts for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now. Acts 1:5... (b) for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now. Jesus says: YOU. Who is Jesus talking to? Did the Holy Spirit descend upon the 120 or only to the 12?

Sorry, but the promise was only made to the twelve!! Luke 24:47, 48...And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48And you are witnesses of these things.

Sorry, but the promise was only made to the twelve!! Then Jesus said: Acts 1:8... But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. This is not WATER BAPTISM! It is a PROMISE!

Baptism... Is Luke using the same word for water baptism? It is the exact same word, but they would not be immersed in water but in the HOLY SPIRIT!

Acts 1:6...(a) Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?Acts Again these are the twelve! when they had come together This gathering is totally different from the one mentioned in verse 4... Acts 1:4... And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, which, He said, you have heard from Me

Acts Acts 1:6...(b) Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel? They are tired, they are confused and they dont want ROME in their country anymore...

The apostles question is not surprising. They are confused, and they had been expecting Jesus to do something like this for them... Luke 19: Now as they heard these things, He spoke another parable, because He was near Jerusalem and because they thought the kingdom of God would appear immediately. Luke 24: But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, today is the third day since these things happened.

Acts The reviling thing is this: The disciples were still thinking about earthly terms, about a Physical messiah! The confusion was probably due to the promise that Jesus made unto them, that they would sit on 12 thrones to judge the tribes of Israel. Matthew 19: Then Peter answered and said to Him, See, we have left all and followed You. Therefore what shall we have? 28So Jesus said to them, Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My names sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. 30But many who are first will be last, and the last first.

Jesus will NOT set up a KINGDOM in this world anymore, as the Premillenialists believe and teach! With this question, what the disciples were asking was: Position and influence Recognition and prestige. Authority and power Rule and reign Money and possessions The material and the Physical. Psalm 89:35,36... Isaiah 11:10... Zachariah 8:3... Zachariah 9:9...

Acts 1:7...(a) And He said to them, It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.Acts One question please! Is Jesus saying: I DONT KNOW? Who are THEM ? Jesus is talking to the twelve!

Acts 1:7...(b) And He said to them, It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.Acts It is not for you to know!!! US If I dont know something I would have said: It is not for US to know... Jehovah's witnesses teach that in Acts 1:7 Jesus admits to being inferior to the Father...Inferior, because of the simple fact that He did not know how to answer this question...Do you agree?

It is not for you to know!!! Acts 1:7...(c) And He said to them, It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.Acts Believers are not to be focusing upon prophesy and the setting of dates. Believers are to be focusing upon witnessing, and upon sharing the glorious gospel of salvation with the world Mark 13:32... But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

Acts 1:8...(a) But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.Acts Jesus in this gathering continues addressing HIS disciples, He said: BUT YOU... It is the same idea. He is not talking to anyone else but the twelve!

Acts 1:8...(b) But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.Acts What is Power and what Kind of Power? In verse 7 Exousia is the word found for AUTHORITY. Dunamis: Power or might... They were to receive the might that the Holy Spirit Gives...

Acts 1:8...(c) But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.Acts The power will come with THE Holy Spirit! It was to be something SUPERNATURAL THAT THEY HAD NEVER SEEN BEFORE!

Acts 1:8...(d) But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.Acts Who is a witness? A bystander, eyewitness, observer, somebody who sees something, somebody who saw or heard something that happened and it gives evidence about it.

Are Jehovah witnesses, Witnesses? Can we use that name? NO! We never saw Jesus in the sense that these men have seen Him, we never touched Him, heard Him, in the physical way...We never eye witnessed anything that He did.

Acts 1:8...(e) But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

Acts 1:8...(f) But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

Acts 1:9... (a) Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.Acts Preaching the Gospel and be His witnesses

John 14:26; 15:26; 16:7; 1 John 2:1, HE IS the ascended Son of God who CAME out of heaven to save man John 3:31-34; 6:33; 7:25-31; 8:23; Hebrews 7:25. 5.HE IS the ascended HIGH PRIEST of God Hebrews 2:17-18; 1 John 2:1,2. 6.HE IS the ascended HIGH PRIEST who is touch with the feelings of our infirmities...Hebrews 2:15-16; 7.HE IS the ascended MESSIAH who makes intercession for US. Rom 8:

Acts 1:9... (b) Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. Psalm 68:4. Psalm 104:3. Daniel 7:13. This is the last time they saw Jesus... Mark 16:19. Luke 24:51. Hebrews 4:14. Hebrews 9:24. 1 Peter 3:22. Acts

Acts Why Jerusalem? Can it be in another city? Many people shall come and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths. For out of Zion shall go forth the law, And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

Acts Why Judea? 5So they said to him, In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet:6But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, Are not the least among the rulers of Judah; For out of you shall come a Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel. 2But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.

Acts Why Samaria? They were enemies of the Samaritans, so why them? 9Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman? For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans. 14For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation,

Acts 1:10... (a) And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel,Acts Ernest, Strained, Fixed Gaze They all ARE IN SHOCK!

Acts Acts 1:10... (b) And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel,

Acts Acts 1:11... (a) who also said, Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven. Man of Galilee...Who are this? Are they all from Galilee?

Acts Acts 1:11... (b) who also said, Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven. They are looking unto heaven where Jesus went! There is doubt about that any more...

Acts Acts 1:11... (c) who also said, Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven. The SAME Jesus, not a Ghost, but the SAME Jesus.

Acts Acts 1:11... (d) who also said, Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven. The same Jesus will come!

Acts Acts 1:12... (a) Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath days journey. They return to Jerusalem form the Olives...

Acts What is a SABBATH day? How Long? Acts 1:12... (b) Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath days journey. Luke 24:50,51

Acts Acts 1:13... (a) And when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying: Peter, James, John, and Andrew; Philip and Thomas; Bartholomew and Matthew; James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot; and Judas the son of James. What was the upper room? How much do we know about this place? Same place?

Acts Who are in the Upper room? Acts 1:13... (b) And when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying: Peter, James, John, and Andrew; Philip and Thomas; Bartholomew and Matthew; James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot; and Judas the son of James. Peter, James, John, and Andrew; Philip and Thomas; Bartholomew and Matthew; James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot; and Judas the son of James. Are we missing anyone?

Acts Acts 1:14... (a) These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers. 1 Corinthians 1:10. John 17:20,21. John 14:13,14.

Acts Acts 1:14... (b) These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers. Are the disciples alone? No...Luke says WOMEN. Mary Magdalene... Mary the wife of Clopas... The sisters Mary and Martha... Salome... 1 Corinthians 9:5... Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?

Acts Acts 1:14... (c) These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers. We Love and Respect Mary this is something the we must clarify… Mary was a true believer! She was keeping many things about her son in her heart and here she proved to be a real believer.

Acts Acts 1:14... (d) These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers. His brother! Did Jesus have more brothers? How many? We find at least 4 in the Bible. James, Joses, Simon and Judas! And many Sisters! Matthew 13:55; Mark 6:3…

ActsActs Acts 1:14... (e) These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers. Before the resurrection they did not believe in Him...John 7:5; Even His own family, the Bible says, believed that Jesus was a mad man. Mark 3:21...

ActsActsActs Acts 1:14... (f) These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers. But now with the disciples, here they are waiting also for the promise! James one of his brothers, received some personal appearances from Jesus, His oldest brother and also he was very prominent in the church that was at Jerusalem. 1 Cor 15:7; Acts 12:17; Acts 15:13; Gal 1:18,19; Gal 2:9…

Acts Acts 1:15 (a)... And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples (altogether the number of names was about a hundred and twenty), and said, Which days? The days in between Jesus ascension and the waiting of the promise… Jesus appeared unto them after His resurrection for 40 days, then they waited for the promise 10 days more, that equals fifty days. This is exactly Pentecostes which means fifty…

Acts Acts 1:15(b)... And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples (altogether the number of names was about a hundred and twenty), and said, Peter has something important to say: Notice please how the number has grown from 12 to 120 so far…

Acts Acts 1:16(a)... Men and brethren, this Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus; Men and brethren, this Scripture had to be fulfilled, Which scripture?

Something that I dont see in the book of Psalm is the name: Does it have to be Judas? Matthew 10:4 Matthew 26:14 John 12:4-7

Acts Let me make some points about Judas as a treasurer! Unless a person is truly saved, sanctified, he is not acceptable to God It is not enough: 1.To claim and profess God. 2.To hold an official office in the church. 3.To be the evangelist or leader. 4.To be faithful church member. 5.To associate with others. 6.To be effective in the ministering.

Acts Acts 1:17...(a) for he was numbered with us and obtained a part in this ministry. Judas was among the twelve! Dont be deceived, people can be among us, but they dont necessarily have to be a part of us... 1 John 2:19... They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.

ActsActs Acts 1:17...(b) for he was numbered with us and obtained a part in this ministry. Judas also obtained part in the ministry, Peter said... But what Ministry? The ministry (Service) of the twelve! It was an Honor to be counted among the twelve, among Jesus followers. There were many who fulfilled the ministry better than Judas but the Honor was for him, and he missed it!!

ActsActs Acts 1:18...(a) (Now this man purchased a field with the wages of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his entrails gushed out. The wages of iniquity... What was that? Did Judas buy the Field? Thats exactly what Peter says: Matthew 27:3,4... Matthew 27:

ActsActs Acts 1:18...(b) (Now this man purchased a field with the wages of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his entrails gushed out. Matthew 27:5... Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself. This is all that Mathew says, but Luke added more info when he mentioned that he even split opened in the middle and all his entrails gushed out...

ActsActs Acts 1:19...(a) And it became known to all those dwelling in Jerusalem; so that field is called in their own language, Akel Dama, that is, Field of Blood.) Everyone knew about Judas and also about his death... FIELD OF BLOOD The field purchased with Judas money was called: Akel Dama. This is an Aramaic word and means. FIELD OF BLOOD.

ActsActs Acts 1:20...(a) For it is written in the book of Psalms: Let his dwelling place be desolate, And let no one live in it; and, Let another take his office. IT IS WRITTEN. This is the way that we are all supposed to talk: IT IS WRITTEN. Peter is quoting the Bible, and this time he goes to the Book of Psalm to bring some application on Judas death...

Acts Acts 1:20...(b) For it is written in the book of Psalms: Let his dwelling place be desolate, And let no one live in it; and, Let another take his office. How did Peter know about all of this? How did he know that this prophecy could be applied to Judas?

ActsActs Acts 1:21... (a) Therefore, of these men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, Due to all of the evidences presented by the book of Psalms... Keep in mind that in the upper room there are 120 disciples and many women, but they selected men...Why is that? Why not Mary Magdalene, or Joanna, or Salome, or Martha?

ActsActs Acts 1:21... (b) Therefore, of these men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, anthropos gune Galatians 3:28... There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

ActsActs Acts 1:22...(a) beginning from the baptism of John to that day when He was taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection. The new apostle must: 1.Have been with Jesus at all times, beginning in Johns baptism, until the days in the Olives or the ascension... 2.His resurrection is also mentioned... 3.Very fundamental for the one replacing Judas. These are doctrinal points that they must be familiar with...

ActsActs Acts 1:22...(b) beginning from the baptism of John to that day when He was taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection. But why Johns baptism? Johns baptism was Jesus beginning of His preaching. Acts 10:37... Acts 13:24,25... Mark 1:1-4...

ActsActs Acts 1:23...(a) And they proposed two: Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias. Have you heard these names before? Matthias and Joseph called Justus. Keep in mind that they both qualified for the work!

ActsActs Acts 1:24...(a) And they prayed and said, You, O Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which of these two You have chosen The disciples are asking God to choose between these two men. Keep in mind that He always knows whats best for us. 1 Chronicles 21:9... Jeremiah 17:10...

ActsActs Acts 1:25...(a) to take part in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place. hell. Judas, like many others now days, choose their own place; in this case hell.

ActsActs Acts 1:26...(a) And they cast their lots, and the lot fell on Matthias. And he was numbered with the eleven apostles. What is that? They put the names of the two selected ones in a box, then, they shook the box until one of the names came out. For them that was the indication that God had made a selection. Numbers 26:55, 56 1 Samuel 10:20, 21 Proverbs 16:33

ActsActs Acts 1:26...(b) And they cast their lots, and the lot fell on Matthias. And he was numbered with the eleven apostles. How many more times have you heard about Matthias in the New Testament? This is the First time and the last time! So, what was the purpose?
